This week we had a fun week. Olivia told us about Grandfather Frost. We read a story about him and drew a picture of him. We found out that he looks a little like Santa but there are lots of differences between Grandfather Frost and Santa Claus. We got to try some new math centers. We made Christmas decorations and we read some stories. We talked about giving and receiving gifts. We made cards for people who help us in our school. We also got to participate in a sing along with the whole school. We talked a little bit about snowflakes and read a story about them. We also got to see some pictures of the Northern Lights. We painted a sky and made paper snowflakes. | |

Another fun week in Kindergarten. We have a new friend in our classroom this week. Her name is Noel and she is an elf (Lutin). She is pretty silly and does strange things. Mme Hawtree is using her to teach us vocabulary like position words and items around the classroom. Noel also reminded us that it is really important to be kind to each other. We finished our whole alphabet! We can write all the capital letters! We are working on remembering all their names and sounds and a few words for each letter. Mme Hawtree will be checking to see how many we know in January. We are continuing to work on number sense. We are working on associating groups of things to a number and counting out objects. We are getting pretty good at it. We have been practicing for our concert this week too. We are getting pretty excited. We learned how to draw Santa Clause (Père Noel) this week. We did a pretty good job too! We also learned a song about Santa and used it to work on a sequencing activity. We have been enjoying hearing about everyone's family traditions for the holidays. There are a few that Mme Hawtree wishes she had done with her family. I can statement we are working on: I know the names of the letters I can write my capital letters I can say the sound of each letter. I can take turns. I can follow the rules of a game. I can be kind. I can count objects to 10. I can link a group of objects with a number. I can write my numbers to 5. I can talk about my family and our traditions. I know that families have different traditions. I can compare my traditions with the traditions of others.
