This week we started to look at our lowercase letters. We are focusing on the vowels to start. We learned to write a and e. We learned some songs to help us remember the sound the letters make and we also drew some pictures of words that started with each letter. Our big project this week was designing and building our gingerbread house. We looked at a variety of houses to try and decide what made a great gingerbread house. We decided that we liked the houses that had patterns on them and also candy canes. We worked with our big buddies to draw our version of the perfect house. On Friday we got to make a mini 2D house. We made our own frosting and we each got to add a part to the big house. On Thursday we had a crazy exciting day. We had a visit from an Elder of the Siylx nation. She came to teach us some traditional games and we learned a few words in Okanagan as well. It was great fun. In the afternoon we had a visit from a Jazz band called Tiny Islands. It was a funny and loud concert. In math we are continuing to focus on subitizing. This is being able to look at a group of objects and figure out how many there are without counting them. You can play games with dice and cards at home to reinforce this skill. We are starting to learn our songs and poem for the Christmas concert this week. Some things we are working on: I can say and write the letters of the alphabet in order. I can write the vowels with upper and lowercase letters. I can use the sounds I know to write. I can draw with details. I can follow oral directions in French to draw a picture. I can recognize groupings of numbers to 6 without counting them. I can use the French I know to communicate. I can take risks and try new things. I can ask questions and wonder about the world around me. I can listen with my whole body. I can talk about my emotions using some French vocabulary. I can use various strategies to help me self regulate. I can talk about how I am similar and different to others. I can tell people what I like. | |
