Mme Hawtree's Kindergarten Class!
Welcome! My name is Geneviève Hawtree and I am so happy to have the opportunity to teach your child this year. I look forward to getting to know you and your child. We will have a fun, exciting and busy year ahead.
Parent/Teacher Communication
Your child will bring home a home school communication bag. If you have any concerns or need to communicate with me about anything you can do so by sending me a note in the communication bag, e-mailing me at [email protected] or by visiting or calling the school between 2:45 - 3:30.
Supplies: Please refer to the school newsletter for the cost of supplies this year. Payments can be made online. Other important items worth noting are:
· A backpack to carry snacks, lunch and library books, etc.
· A water bottle (please label the bottle and encourage your child not to share it!)
· A complete change of clothing in a labeled bag. (in case of accidents, falls or messes)
· Indoor running shoes which can be left at school on a continuing basis.
· A personal set of headphones in a labeled bag.
- A rain jacket or poncho and umbrella.
Dress for the weather:
We be spending a lot of our learning and playing time outside this year. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately to be outside rain, snow or shine.
Parent Participation:
At this time parents are not allowed in the school building, however there are many other ways you can help at school.
Money
On occasion it will be necessary for your child to bring money to school. Always send money in a sealed envelope or plastic bag with the following information written on it:
1 Your child’s first and last name.
2 The amount of money.
3 The purpose for the money (book money, party money, etc).
4 My name.
With 20 students to keep track of and several reasons to collect money, this helps me out tremendously and reduces the likelihood of errors. Also, if the envelope is left on the bus or dropped in the hallway, this information will help the money to be returned to my classroom.
Book Orders
Your child will be bringing home a form to order books about once a month. If you wish to order, submit your order to me and pay by credit card or PayPal online at www.scholastic.ca/canadaclubs Your online order will be sent to me automatically. These orders are provided as a convenient way for parents to buy quality books for their child at a low price. As an added bonus, for every dollar that is spent on books, I earn bonus points which are used to purchase books and materials for classroom use.
Birthdays
Birthdays are special occasions for young children. Unfortunately this year we can not share birthday treats at school. Please do not send birthday party invitations to school unless the entire class has been invited. Although it may seem convenient to distribute invitations this way, it can result in hurt feelings for those not invited.
Library Day
Our library day is Tuesday. Please make sure that your child's books and book bag are sent to school on that day. Students will not be able to take out any new books until the original books are returned.
Procedures and Routines
Entering the school: At 8:25 a.m., I meet and greet the students outside. I lead the students inside the school.
Snack Time: We have one snack in the morning. Please pack a nutritious and easy to open snack for mid-morning and if possible please let your child know which snack is for the morning. This will make snack time easier for everyone.
Lunch Time: We have a few children with allergies in our class. Please ensure that you are not sending nuts of any kind in your child's lunch.
End of Day: I will bring students out to our meeting spot. Please meet us there at 2:25.
