What a crazy, busy, fun week! We had our last hip hop session on Thursday. We made Mixed Media me dolls on Wednesday. We had our first parent reading afternoon on Friday. Thank you to everyone who came out for these events. The kids and I really appreciate it! We have been reviewing our capital letters this week and working on connecting a few french words to each letter. We have also been practicing writing the letters in alphabetic order. We also figured out that now that we know the letter sounds we can start to read a few simple words on our own. We practiced with the words la and ma. We made a home version of our mitten game this week to help us practice our number recognition to 20. We have a new favorite video to help us practice our counting too. We practiced writing our numbers in shaving cream too! | |

This week we are beginning to learn to write our last name. We learned how to print the letters H K L U V W. We also practiced the sound of each letter and drew pictures of words that start with each letter. We are practicing counting by 1,2,5 to 20 and we are starting to learn to count by 10's to 70. We also talked about the words petit (small) , grand {big) et moyen (medium). We sorted and lined up items by size. We read the story of Boucle D'or (Goldilocks) a few times this week too. For gym we have been going to HipHop and learning a new dance. We also started working in our writers workshop books this week. We drew pictures of ourselves, our mom and dad and our family. We are working on creating pictures that are detailed, are colored in rather than scribbled in, and have 5 or more colors. Those students who wanted to also wrote some words in their books about their pictures. (moi, maman, papa, famille) These are some of the skills we are working on building right now and over the next few months. I can count to 20 in french. I can write my numbers to 10. I can recognize groupings of dots and quickly say how many without counting. (Up to 10) I can sort items by 1 rule. (size, color, shape) and explain my rule. I can use my 5 senses to make observations. I can write my first and last name. I can write all the letters in the alphabet. I can say the name of each letter in french. I can say the sound of each letter in french. I can say one word that starts with each letter in french. I can begin to use simple french words and phrases to communicate. |
