| What a fun week! 100 day was a lot of fun. We counted, we ate, we exercised and we created. We are happy to be 100 days smarter! In math we have been practicing writing our numbers and subsidizing. We made a caterpillar with numbers on it. Our letters this week were d,g and u. We have been learning to draw all sorts of things that start with each letter of the alphabet. I can compare groups of objects and sort them by 1 rule. I can write my first and last name. I can write my lowercase letters. I know the sounds of most of my letters. I know some words for most letters of the alphabet. I am drawing detailed pictures to tell a story. I understand that letters on a page have meaning. I can use the words and sounds I know to write. I can follow step by step instructions. I can make predictions. I can print my numbers to 10. I can quickly recognize groups of dots as numbers. I can show each number to 10 in a variety of ways. I know what food does for my body. I can make healthy choices. I can listen to other respectfully. |

We learned the names of some arctic animals this week and we wrote about the animals we would like to learn about in our journals. We also learned a little about groundhogs (la marmotte). We made a puppet, read a book about groundhogs, painted a picture of one and learned about groundhogs day. Our groundhogs did not see their shadows. Some of us thought that was great because spring might be coming soon. Some of us really like winter and want it to stay. In our center times this week we have been practicing counting, making groups of objects, finding ways to make the numbers to 10 and writing our numbers. We have also been practicing printing our letters and listening to songs in French. Mme introduced a new kind of center this week too. When we are done our work or for free centers we can choose to do a curiosity center. These are centers that can help us learn about things we are interested in or help us practice things we want to get better at. There are dinosaur bags, magnet bags, art bags, science bags, letter and number practice bags, finger knitting, loom bracelets, geography bags, and lots more. Mme will keep adding things as we express interest in them. We learned that these centers are not always easy. They require us to work hard and keep trying. Learning new things is fun but can sometimes be a little hard. We are really enjoying the centers. On Friday we worked extra hard and earned a reward. We decided we wanted to do an extra craft activity this week. Mme Hawtree wondered if we could paint snow. Some of us thought we could, others though Mme Hawtree was crazy. We tried it and had a lot of fun. We have been working on our lowercase letters. We are learning a song, drawing pictures and practicing writing words for each letter. Our letters this week were c,o,s and v. You can hear the songs bellow. |
