Skating Field trip -
We will be going skating on Friday, January 31, from 9:00-10:00 am. Students will need skates, helmets and appropriate dress (snow pants, warm jacket, mitts). If your child has elbow and knee pads, they would be very beneficial as well. If you indicated your child needs skates, we will do our best to provide your child with skates in their size. The school bus can only guarantee pick up at 9:00 am, which is when our ice time begins. If you are able to drive your child to the arena and get their skates and helmet on, they could begin skating as soon as we arrive. I will do my best to arrange for a parent to bring the skate bin early so students borrowed skates will be available by 8:30 am. (If you are able to pick it up the day before and be there for 8:30, please let me know). We would like as many parents as possible to join us, to assist in lacing up the skates and helping the students on/off the ice. Please sign up on the calendar outside the class or contact me to let me know if you will be able to join us.
Vision Screening – between Tuesday, January 12 and Thursday, January 14, all Kindergarten students will have their vision checked. Information was sent home with your child's report card regarding this Interior Health initiative.
Early dismissal on Thursday and Friday, January 30 and January 31. Students attend school from 8:30-12:30. We will eat lunch at our regular 11:00 am time, so please send a lunch on these days. Please arrange to have your child picked up early with your childcare provider, if necessary. We will not have conferences on these dates, unless it is scheduled. Please read above note.
Student Led Conferences -
On January 30th your child will get a chance to show your their learning in our classroom. You will be rotating through stations and your child will be teaching you and showing you what they know. You will also get a few minutes to meet with me. This is an exciting and important day for our Kindergartners and we hope you will be able to come spend 45 minutes with us. Most parents feel this gives them a good indication of their students progress and they do not feel the need to meet with me one on one. If you feel you need a one on one conference parent teacher conference, I have limited spots available on Friday January 31st. Please sign up for both a Thursday and a Friday conference if you feel you need to meet with me without your child present. Your child will be excited to show you the classroom and their learning on Thursday. If none of these times work for you, please select "contact me to book a conference".
