SKATING Preparations -
We are planning to go SKATNG FOUR times in the new year. In preparation for this, we would like to know how many students have skates. If they do not have skates, please see if you can arrange to borrow some from a friend or perhaps make skates a gift item for Christmas. If they need to borrow skates from the school, it would be helpful to know their shoe size. With all the Kindergarten students skating together, we want to ensure there are enough skates for students to practice.
COLD WEATHER - please make sure your child has a warm and water proof jacket and when necessary, winter boots, mitts and toque for outdoor play. Also encourage them to zipper their jacket on their own.
CHILD ABSENCE – if your child is away from school, you need to contact the school through the school messenger app or by calling the school and leaving a message. Informing me is helpful, however, the school will still contact you if you haven't contacted them through one of these options
Helping at home –
Fine Motor Skills – encourage cutting scrap paper and drawing or coloring on paper
Early Literacy – Rhyming games, songs, stories, nursery rhymes
Number Recognition – “Go Fish” with playing cards
Counting – the game “Trouble” or other board games
Letter Recognition – look at signs on the road, license plates or labels on food items and ask them to identify the letters they see
I will be taking time to assess each child individually this month on the concepts we have covered up to this time in class. I am looking forward to seeing the progress each child has made. See Fresh Grade for updates over the next month.
