Gift Exchange and Holiday Social:
On Friday December 21st, the whole school will be attending a festive sing along assembly in the morning. Students are welcome to wear their pajamas, as well as elf hats, Santa hats or other cChristmas attire that day. In the afternoon, we will have a shared snack, play some games and watch a Christmas movie. I’m looking for 2 or 3 parent volunteers to bring some a veggie or fruit tray, a snack or 1 box of mandarin oranges that day for the students to share at snack time. There are 18 students in this class. If you can help, please send me an e-mail or sign-up on our volunteer sheet.
On December 21, we will be holding a gift exchange at school. We use the exchange to talk about gratitude, graciousness, how to receive and how to give. Each child is asked to bring a small wrapped gift worth no more than $5. Handmade gifts are wonderful too. Recipients are randomly chosen on the day of the exchange so choose ask your child to choose an item that anyone would like. Please send the gift to school by December 17th so that I have time to purchase extra gifts if needed. Please do not wrap food with nuts, sweets or animal products as we have students with allergies.
Skating in January/February – we will be going skating 3 times as a class. Thank you for responding to the need for skates. If you are able to borrow or purchase skates for your child to use during our skating sessions, that would be most helpful. To support your child's skating development, Jim Lind arena offers public skates to families and a parent/tot skate for children under 6 years of age. The schedule can be found at https://www.westkelownacity.ca/en/parks-recreation-and-culture/recreation-guide.aspx on page 48-49.
Outdoor/Indoor Clothing - With the arrival of colder weather, students are wearing boots to school. Please ensure your child is dressed in appropriately for outdoor play (ie. boots, mitts, toques, snow pants). As boot season is quickly approaching, it will also be helpful for each child to have running shoes in the classroom (no slippers please)
