This week we attended a WITS assembly and learned some steps to deal with conflict. WITS stands for Walk away, Ignore, Talk about it and Seek help. Found out that each of us is a teacher and a learner (even Mme Hawtree) We learned that each of us has things we can teach to others, and we are encouraged to be teachers as well as learners. We worked on learning our vowels. We talked about A, E, I, O. We read little books for each letter, and learned a song for each one. We continued to played with the colors vert(green), rose(pink), violet (purple), noir (black), brun (brown) We learned that all stories need a character and created our own characters. We also learned that even though we can't write like a grown-up yet, we can still be authors of our own stories if we use the words and letter sounds we know, and pictures to write a story. We also went to the garden to finish putting it to bed for the winter. We had fun digging around and we even found a worm! Some of us knew some facts about worms that we shared with the class. | |

What a wonderful week. We had a whole bunch of fun at the Pumpkin patch on Monday.
On Tuesday we carved pumpkins with our big buddies. On Wednesday we invited the whole school to visit our pumpkin path. We made and handed out tickets, Counted out pumpkin seeds and handed them out and we collected over 200 lbs of food for the food bank. Thursday we had fun with Halloween centers, music, a Halloween parade around the school and we did a great job performing for the grandparents at Westwood. We are continuing to make a book a day for our friends in the classroom. We are beginning to connect numbers, quantities and the written number. We are practicing seeing, and recreating patterns. We are also learning the letter names, and sounds. We are starting to use the French words we know to communicate. Here are something we are working on now. I can understand simple instructions in French. I can use the French I know to communicate with others. I can count to 10 in French. I can say the letters in my name. I can write my name using upper and lowercase letters. I can connect numbers to groups of objects. I can ask questions about what I am learning. I can use my imagination to create new things. I get ideas from others. I am a communicator who listens and shares my ideas. I get ideas when I play. I can keep trying even when things are tricky. I can resolve simple conflicts with others. |
