It was nice to get a chance to meet all of you this week. What we learned this week: Our sound was ON. You can find this sound in cochon, bonbon, melon. Practice reading ON words here. We also learned about E's little bother é. é always wears a hat on this head. He is in words like élephant and bébé. Here is a game you can play with é. Our other letter this week was P. We are learning to look at pictures to help us figure out words in our books and to look for little words we know how to read already. In science this week we were learning about seasonal change. We went for a walk to look for signs of fall. We collected leaves, branches, pinecones and other items that made us think of fall. When we got back we decided to try painting a class work using the items we had collected, sponges, paintbrushes and other items we wanted to use. It was messy but a lot of fun. In math we are working on our counting skills and number writing skills. We did an art piece but writing our numbers from 0-9 in different colors all over a paper. We are also continuing to practice counting forwards and backwards from 1-20. | In writing this week we started to learn how to use a picture dictionary to find the words we want to use in our writing. We wrote about things we liked and things we saw. Je vois, J'aime We are working on remembering that our sentences need periods at the end. We also started playing with DooGood cards this week. Each day we pick a new card that encourages us to do something nice for other people. This week our cards where "Give a Compliment", "Smile" and "High five". You can read more about these cards at http://www.doogoods.com/ |
