Welcome back everyone. Our first week back we have been focusing on remembering our routines. We have begun another round of alphabet work. This round we are learning a song about each letter, drawing things that start with the letter and writing words that start with each letter. We learned to draw un bateau (boat) and un cochon (pig) this week. We are also beginning to work on giving justifications for our answers and opinions. Je pense (I think).... parce-que (because). One activity we did to practice this was that we looked at a strange picture Mme put on the board that was mostly covered up. We had to try and decide what it might be and defend our answer by explaining to our partners what we saw. The picture was of 2 loonies. We found out that the animal on a loonie is called a un plongeur(loon) and is not a duck. We also found out that loonies are worth 1 dollar, and that the other side of a loonie shows a picture of Queen Elizabeth. In Math we are working on all sorts of different skills. We are all practicing writing our numbers to 10. We are playing with simple additions problems. We are counting single groups and counting two groups together. We are sorting things and playing with shapes. We are also started talking about the seasons and we learned that we are in spring. Some of us thought it was summer already. We are working on knowing the names of the 4 seasons (les saisons) and what makes each season special. The seasons in French are le printemps, l'été, l'automne, l'hiver. The song beside here can help you learn them too! | |
