| We started our new show and tell this week. We heard the Okanagan story about how names were given. We also got to hear how a few of our friends got their names. We are looking forward to hearing from everyone. We started learning about sorting this week. We talked about how we could sort groups of items. We just has to decide on a sorting rule. We came up with all sorts of ways to sort things (color, size, shape, uses). We worked with our groups to sort objects. It was sometimes difficult to get everyone to agree on what sorting rule we should use. We worked on finding ways to resolve conflicts too. On Tuesday Mme asked us to imagine that we were the number 100 and that we wanted to hide so no one would recognize us. She gave us a 1 and two 0s and we had to find a way to disguise the number 100. We got all sorts of great ideas. 100 became a giraffe, a car, a butterfly, and owl, a tree, a key and all sorts of other amazing things. It was fun to get new ideas and to see our friends ideas. On Thursday we had some ants(une fourmi) visit our classroom. We were very excited and curious about these ants. We decided to do a little learning about them. We watched them and we watched a few videos about ants. We also did an art project about some ants and did some writing about ants. We also had some students go home and do some research at home. We decided we don't want the ants living in our classroom but we would like to observe them more. We are going to build an ant home. Our letters this week were s, t and u. S comme serpent(snake), sept (7), savon (soap) T comme tortue(turtle), tigre(tiger), tete (head) U comme usine(factory), univers, uniforme, une (1 feminine) |
