We also read the story 3 Souris Peintres and made a watercolor painting bases on the book using a wet on wet painting technique. We learned a little about the difference between primary and secondary colours. You can watch the story below.
We are continuing our work in the handwriting without tears book. We learned to write the letters D,P,B and R. We also learned the sound of each of the letters and a few words for each letter. We learned how to draw a fox (un renard) and grapes (des raisins).
We spent sometime talking about feelings this week and the zones of regulation. You may hear child say that they are in the blue zone (tired, bored, sad), green zone (happy, ready to learn, calm), yellow zone (getting frustrated, a little excited, upset) or red zone (angry, over excited). We are learning that all of us can find ourselves in any of these zones during the day and that this is okay. We are learning to use a variety of strategies to help us move from the red, yellow and blue zones back to the green zone so that we are ready to learn at school.
Some strategies that we are working on together are exercise to help us get out of the blue zone. Deep slow breaths to help us get out of the yellow zone or red zone. We also learned a whole body relaxation technique called spaghetti toes. We will be learning a range of different strategies for dealing with our emotions over the year.
