We had a chance to go to the garden this week. We went and picked carrots and tomatoes. We were surprised to discover that not all tomatoes are red and not all carrots are orange. We then worked together to clean-up the plot for the winter. It was a lot of hard work but it was fun too. We then spent some time drawing some things we saw in the garden. In math we are working on being able to count up to 6 objects and to match our count with the numbers from 1-6. It is sometimes tricky to keep track of what we have already counted so we are practicing counting from left to right, top to bottom - just like you would read a book. We talked a little about being thankful this week and we learned a new song about being thankful in French. We also wrote a book about things we are thankful for and we made a thankful tree. Mme plays classical music while we work. Some of us became curious about who was playing the music and why it had no words. We decided to learn a little about orchestras and we learned some names for various instruments in French. We also watched a video of an orchestra and were very curious about the conductor. We also learned about the Power of Yet. We discovered that there are things we can't do yet that with time and practice we will be able to accomplish. We all though of one thing we couldn't do yet that we would like to work on learning to do. Many wanted to learn to draw certain things. Others wanted to learn to skateboard, drive a car, invent a house cleaning robot, and learn to write and read. We also started talking about our superpowers and we talked about how superheros do the right thing, even when no one is watching. We will continue to explore this idea over the next while. We agreed as a class on our class rules this week too. 1) Work hard and do your best 2) Look, Listen, Think (whole body listening) 3) Keep your hands to yourself. 4) Raise your hand to speak - take turns speaking and listening 5) Keep everyone happy.
