| What a fun week. We had a great time playing Inuit games but it was a little cold for some of us. We learned that games can teach us skills and help us learn new things. The presentation from Dufflebag theater was so much fun too. They did a bilingual version of Beauty and the Beast. We laughed a lot and learned some new French words too. I am so proud of many our classmates. They are working hard to use the French they know to communicate and are starting to put sentences together to share their ideas. We are continuing to practice speaking to each other in French everyday and students are starting to understand that it isn't just Mme who can speak in French. In our small group work time we are all working on different skills. Some are continuing to work on learning their letter names and sounds. Some students are working on building up their French vocabulary and recognizing site words, or reading simple syllabes. A few of the students are working on reading multi-syllable words and on building up their French vocabulary so that they can read books in French. In math we are continuing to practice writing out numbers to 10, putting them in order, recognizing them our of order. We are also continuing to practice seeing sets and trying to find different combinations of two groups of objects to make a new number. We also sat down this week as a class to revise our classroom rules. These are the rules we decided on together: 1) Our classroom voice was to be one of 3 levels: 6 is our center voice - it is a 6 inch voice 2 is our work voice - is is a whisper voice 0 is our quiet work and quiet time voice it is no voice at all. 2) Hands feet and body to ourselves 3) Walk in the classroom. 4) Raise your hands and take turns speaking. 5) Be kind to everyone. 6) Work hard and do your best. Mme is watching for students who are doing a great job following the rules - especially being kind and doing our best. She is giving out Popsicle sticks when she catches us - not all the time - but some times. When we earn 10 sticks we can choose a prize: Ipad time at centers First choice at centers Prize from prize box Congratulations visit to the office.
