b words: baton (bat or stick), banane (banana), baleine (whale)
c words: C makes 2 sounds in French. We are concentrating on words that make a K sound right now.

We started to learned about cold weather animals this week. We talked about Polar Bears(Ours Polaire) and Penguins(Manchot). We had lots of questions we wanted answered about both these animals. We wondered what they ate, where they lived, if they lived in igloos, if they had babies, why polar bears were white, and lots of other interesting questions. We watched a few videos and learned the answer to quite a few of our questions. We talked about how we could find the answer to the questions we still have. We decided we could ask our parents, get a book from the library or watch more videos about Polar bears and Penguins.
In math we are continuing to work on printing our numbers. We are beginning to learn to write number words. We practiced writing un (one) and deux (two) this week. We also practice different ways of making those numbers (tally marks, ten frames, pictures, symbol, group). We are also working on remembering the number before and the number after each number. Also in math we are starting to learn to count by 5 and 10.
You may hear your child talk about the Doogood card game. Each day we chose a new card that gives us a task for the day. They are good reminders of things we can do. We had a lot of fun on Friday because we were given a very large box. This lead us to wonder what we could make with the box. We came up with all sorts of good ideas. We learned that good thinkers use other people's ideas and build on them. Once we had all our ideas down we realised we had a problem. We could not use everyone's ideas. We talked about ways we might decide whose idea to use. Students who felt strongly about their ideas explained some reasons why their idea would be the most fun for everyone. We decided we would use 4 of the ideas. Each side of the box would be something different. We then sat down to plan out what we would do with the box. That was difficult and we realised we needed to think about a few things before we started making our ideas. Next week we will get to work on making our creations.
