This week we finished our alphabet review. We also starting our literacy stations. Mme works with small groups of children while we practice our reading, words and letters. We are able to work independently for 10 minutes! We are working on creating and retelling stories. We are also practicing writing our own sentences. We are also learning new sight words. Our words this week were ami and les. (Note: In French the s at the end of a word is usually silent. So les is pronounced "leh"not lehs.) We also learned about the difference between a period and an exclamation point. We had fun reading silly sentences and switching the punctuation. We read a whole bunch of Eric Carle books in French this week and we had fun completing our Eric Carle inspired collages. We also read the story "My Many Colored Days" by Dr Seuss. We talked about feelings and moods and reviewed some vocabulary for these concepts. (content, triste, fâché.) We then got a chance to play at our heart making exploration station. In math we are continuing our work with 3D shapes and continuing to practice skip counting by 2. | |
