On Monday we practiced for our Winter concert that will be on December 9th. Someone wondered how many days there were till Christmas. We figured out that Christmas was in 35 days.
We decided to creating a countdown calendar to help keep track of how many days there are left till Christmas holidays. We decided to draw pictures to put in our calendar. We thought about what would make a good picture for our calendar.. We decided that good pictures are well colored(stayed in the lines), well draw (no scribbling) are colorful, have details. We also thought that for this project our pictures should be about a winter or Christmas theme.
On Tuesday and Wednesday morning Mme Hawtree had a chance to sit down with everyone this week to play some word games, rhyming games and sound games. It was fun.
We had lots of fun this week playing with color. We used shaving cream and food coloring to mix primary colors to see what would happen. It was very messy but also very fun.
We discovered that crayons colors don't mix very well so we tried mixing paints instead. We painted flowers with the new colors we created.
We listened to the story "Trois souris peintres" (Three mice paint) and we painted water color paper with yellow, red and blue paint. We also made little mice to put on our paintings.
On Friday we visited the Aquarium in Texas (through a virtual field trip) and learned a little about river otters. We learned how otter whiskers, fur and feet help them adapt to their environment. We also learned that river otters can only live in clean environments and so it is important to help keep rivers clean.
Our letters this week were x,y.
